**Job Summary**

Tony Gee and Partners is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Associate Director to join our team in the Birmingham office. As a key member of our highways team, you will be responsible for leading the technical delivery of our projects and developing the highway engineering capabilities within our Birmingham office.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and delivery of multiple concurrent highway projects.
  • Act as a highways discipline technical lead, taking responsibility for the punctual delivery of projects to high quality standards and achieving financial targets.
  • Manage and direct a team of staff, providing training and development opportunities to ensure their technical skills are up-to-date.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, identifying potential work and contributing to the growth of our business.
  • Prepare and manage fee budgets, proposals, and resource requirements for projects under your control.
  • Coordinate with other engineers within the regional offices and technical groups to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Manage the preparation of calculations, drawings, and other documents, ensuring they are controlled during project execution.
  • Manage and liaise with clients on proposals and project work, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Specify and manage site examination and investigation works in a safe and effective manner.
  • Identify and manage risks for the work under your control to agreed acceptable levels.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in highway technical design delivery, with a strong understanding of DMRB and MCHW.
  • Chartered with a relevant engineering institution, such as CEng + MICE and/or MIHT.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience of managing and developing a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD, with experience of other software packages such as MicroStation, Microsoft Project, and Civils 3D.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in design and build schemes, including supporting schemes through construction.
  • Understanding of related highway disciplines, including structures, earthworks, ITS, landscaping, road safety, and traffic analysis.
  • Knowledge of BIM protocols in BS1192.
