About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients in our Acute Adult Inpatient Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage individual, activity, and environmental risk to ensure the safety of patients, colleagues, and the wider public.
  • Conduct comprehensive home assessments and make recommendations for equipment, accessories, and adaptations.
  • Order, fit, and check adaptive equipment to ensure it is safe and effective for clients and their carers.
  • Work as a lone practitioner in various settings, making immediate decisions and working within the remit of Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust policies and guidelines.
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of self and others, observing local rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.

Requirements
  • Diploma/BSC (Hons) in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • State registered with the Health Professionals Council.
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current best practice in older adult inpatient mental health and awareness of relevant government directives and legislation.
  • Specialist knowledge and application of OT assessments and interventions using expert-level clinical reasoning.
  • Evidence of detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact on current practice.
  • Demonstrable detailed knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and its application.
  • 1 year post-registration experience.
  • Evidence of familiarity with audit processes.
  • Extensive clinical experiences, including individual and group work in mental health specialties.
