Senior Occupational Therapist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team in the Acute Adult Inpatient Unit at Chorley Hospital. As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients with mental health problems, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to assess and manage individual, activity, and environmental risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and actively manage individual, activity, and environmental risk to ensure the safety of patients, colleagues, and the wider public.
- Recognise the personal right of patients to positive risk taking in promoting their own recovery.
- Conduct comprehensive home assessments, taking into account physical ability, mental capacity, and safety issues, and make recommendations for the provision of equipment, accessories, adaptations, and rehousing issues.
- Order, fit, and check adaptive equipment as required, ensuring it is appropriate and can be used safely by clients and their carers.
- Work as a lone practitioner in various settings, making immediate decisions and working within the remit of Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust policies and guidelines regarding Lone Worker practice.
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of self and others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work, observing local rules, policies, procedures, and regulations relating to keeping a safe workplace.

Person Specification
Essential
- Diploma/BSC (Hons) in Occupational Therapy (OT) or equivalent.
- State registered with Health Professionals Council.
- Documented evidence of continuing professional development (CPO).
Desirable
- Experience of a range of specialist Health and Social Care settings.
