Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our team in the Acute Adult Inpatient Unit at Chorley Hospital. As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients experiencing mental health problems. Your expertise will be essential in assessing patients, developing personalized care plans, and supporting timely discharges to home or the most appropriate placement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to identify their occupational needs and develop tailored care plans.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery and effective communication.
  • Provide expert guidance and supervision to junior staff members, promoting their professional development and growth.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest best practices, legislation, and guidelines in older adult inpatient mental health, applying this knowledge to inform your practice.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and effective care environment.

Requirements
  • Diploma/BSC (Hons) in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • State registration with the Health Professionals Council.
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current best practices in older adult inpatient mental health and awareness of relevant government directives and legislation.
  • Specialist knowledge and application of OT assessments and interventions using expert-level clinical reasoning.
  • Experience of working in mental health specialties, with a focus on older adults.
