Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Leader Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a SEND school in Gateshead. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

About the School:

The school caters for students aged 2-19 years, with a focus on providing a therapeutic and educational community. They pride themselves on having a positive and welcoming atmosphere, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs in lessons and activities
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of individual education plans
  • Support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students
  • A good knowledge of EHCPs
  • The ability to assist in lessons and activities
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
