Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Gateshead

Contract Type: Long Term

Leader Education is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work at a SEND school in Gateshead. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and have excellent communication skills. Experience working in a transferable role, such as healthcare or nursery practice, is desirable. The school caters for students aged 2-19 years.

The school is a nurturing, educational, and therapeutic community with a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Most students have severe learning difficulties, many complex or profound needs.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students
  • A good knowledge of EHCPs
  • The ability to assist in lessons and activities
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
