Classroom Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities:- Assist the classroom instructor in executing lessons and educational programs.
- Help in the preparation and organization of teaching resources.
- Provide individualized support to learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Facilitate students' learning in areas such as literacy, numeracy, and comprehension.
- Implement strategies for behavior management and uphold classroom order.
- Oversee students during breaks and external activities.
- Support learners with specific learning challenges, including dyslexia.
- Assist in the utilization of assistive technologies and specialized equipment.
- Collaborate with educational staff and specialists to create Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Track and report on student progress to the classroom teacher.
- Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Recognized qualification in Educational Support or relevant experience.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Preferred qualification in Educational Support.
- Previous experience in a similar role or as an Educational Support Assistant.
- Experience in assisting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Familiarity with behavior management strategies.
- Strong grasp of the national curriculum and educational frameworks.
- Understanding of special educational needs and disabilities, including dyslexia.
- Effective communication skills with students, educators, and guardians.
- Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) is preferred.
- Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) certification.
- Additional credentials in areas such as dyslexia support or British Sign Language (BSL).
The Educational Support Assistant will primarily operate within a school environment, aiding the classroom instructor and students. The role may involve engaging with learners with varied educational needs and behaviors. Attendance at training sessions and participation in professional development activities may be required. The work schedule aligns with the academic calendar and standard school hours.
