About the Role
As a Detective Sergeant within Counter Terrorism Policing, you will lead a team of dedicated and highly trained investigators reporting to the Senior Investigating Officer. Your key responsibilities will include overseeing and directing the gathering and developing of intelligence in line with the National Intelligence Model, as well as gathering evidence in relation to investigations into criminal and extremist behavior/activities and terrorism-related offenses.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage National Security investigations in a high-profile and emotive environment, enhancing trust and confidence.
- Develop investigations from covert into overt case building, working with partners, the Crown Prosecution Service, and others to bring cases before the courts in a highly professional manner.
- Manage highly sensitive material, including covert, intelligence, and investigative product.
- Utilize financial investigators to disrupt terrorist activity.
- Influence the development of staff and the department in line with the values of Counter Terrorism Policing.
- Continually improve the quality of service provided locally, regionally, and nationally in the current economic climate.
- Demonstrate strong and visible leadership.
- Develop strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Effectively supervise investigators in their duties, paying particular attention to welfare, discipline, and the improvement of their investigative techniques and provision of suitable training.
- Assist with the development of policies and procedures to improve working practices and enhance the reputation of Counter Terrorism Policing, particularly within the area of Terrorism Investigations, and systems employed by the department.
- Any other duties commensurate with the role and rank as directed by the SIO.
