Main Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality mental health services to children and young people in Hertfordshire. This will involve conducting skilled mental health triage and assessments, as well as providing brief intervention therapy to children and families who require a more targeted response.

Key Duties
  • Delivering Quality Services: The post holder will be expected to deliver a quality service in line with the organisation's objectives and performance indicators.
  • Promoting Mental Health: The successful candidate will promote the mental and emotional health of children, young people, and families in the community, from birth into adulthood.
  • Outreach and Engagement: The post holder will support an outreach capacity to engage with a range of vulnerable groups.
  • Access to Specialist Services: The successful candidate will facilitate appropriate access to Specialist CAMHS and other relevant provision according to level and nature of need.
  • Integrated Practice: The post holder will contribute to the promotion and participation in integrated practice and multi-agency support team models.
  • Clinical Record Keeping: The successful candidate will maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and exercise professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice.
  • Treatment Interventions: The post holder will plan and deliver treatment interventions in line with Best Practice and local and National Guidelines.
  • Children's IAPT Values: The successful candidate will promote and embed Children's IAPT values within the service and wider workforce.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold a qualification relevant to child mental health at postgraduate level or be accredited as a mental health practitioner.
  • Training: The post holder will have training in a specific mental health intervention such as CBT, attachment-focused, systemic psychotherapy, or creative therapy.
  • Continuing Professional Development: The successful candidate will have evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Knowledge: The post holder will have knowledge of legislation and policy and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group and mental health.
  • Experience: The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people and families in a brief intervention model, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Skills and Abilities: The post holder will have the ability to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship and experience in working with children and young people with complex needs, safeguarding, and contextual difficulties.
  • Teamwork: The successful candidate will be able to work and cooperate actively as a member of a team and with the wider professional network, including other agencies.
