Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced nurse to join our specialist palliative care team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team, providing expert knowledge, high-quality care, and psychological support to patients and their families requiring specialist palliative care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice and education to patients, relatives, carers, and other healthcare professionals requiring palliative care within the hospital.
  • Manage a nurse-led caseload autonomously, using advanced skills in assessing and treating a variety of conditions, including non-malignant and malignant life-limiting conditions.
  • Work alongside other clinical colleagues in oncology, palliative care, ED, acute medicine, radiology, and pathology to ensure quality and care to the patient is maximised.
Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse with a healthcare-related degree and post-registration qualification in palliative care or oncology.
  • Substantial clinical experience in an acute setting and substantial management experience in a speciality or related area at band 6 or above.
  • Participation in service development and implementation of change, with experience of teaching and assessing in the clinical area.
