About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Palliative Care Specialist Nurse to join our established Specialist Palliative Team in Luton. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive holistic assessments of patients with palliative diagnoses, using your clinical expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide leadership and clinical excellence in palliative and end-of-life care within the Luton community nursing service.
  2. Work in partnership with other providers to deliver a seamless service across all care settings.
  3. Provide education and training to other professionals involved in palliative and end-of-life care in the community setting.
  4. Act as a role model for palliative and end-of-life care within the organization, demonstrating high standards of care and providing clinical leadership to others.
  5. Review local and national strategy for palliative and end-of-life care and support local implementation of changes.
Requirements
  • Currently working in a B6 role or above.
  • Significant and recent clinical knowledge of palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Evidence of teaching/training experience.
  • Audit/evaluation of service/project.
  • Current knowledge of national policies and drivers relevant to specialist palliative and end-of-life care.
Desirable
  • Community nursing experience.
Skills
  • Ability to demonstrate good IT skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - written and verbal with evidence of basic counselling skills.
  • Ability to be flexible working across organizations and work with a range of professionals.
  • Effective teaching and presentation skills, using different methods, training, and providing written reports.
