We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking senior manager to lead our Cellular Pathology Service. The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process in Histology, including administrative functions and oversight of mortuaries across the network.
About the RoleThe Cellular Pathology Service processes over 80,000 surgical cases, 7,000 non-gynaecological cytology cases, and 800 postmortems per annum. The laboratory is modern, well-equipped, and has excellent facilities for immunohistochemistry, rapid processing, FISH, and Molecular services.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Cellular Pathology Service, ensuring high-quality and innovative diagnostic services.
- Oversee the administrative functions, including laboratory information systems and digital pathology.
- Collaborate with the Consultant Head of Department, laboratory lead, and mortuary lead to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve service efficiency, quality, and patient outcomes.
- Work closely with the pathology management team to expand biomedical scientist dissection and advanced practice reporting.
- Support the implementation of lean principles and 7-day working in the laboratory.
- Contribute to the development of the laboratory service and expansion of digital pathology.
