Overview of the Position

The primary responsibility is to guarantee a secure, timely, dependable, and cost-efficient provision of services by overseeing the movement of drivers and vehicles from the depot, along designated routes, and back to the depot, all within the framework of operational excellence.

Address and resolve daily operational challenges, including scheduling, resource allocation, vehicle efficiency, and driver inquiries. Provide updates and escalate significant issues or concerns to the line manager.

Foster engagement among frontline staff through effective communication, active listening, and recognition of their contributions.

Adhere to and integrate the divisional governance framework established by the Operations Steering Group, ensuring that operational excellence policies and procedures are implemented within the depot.

Core Responsibilities

Anticipate and plan for service requirements from the start of the day through to the end, including managing on-the-day absences. In smaller depots, monitor and proactively manage service punctuality and availability using systems outlined in the operational matrices. Address driver inquiries promptly and oversee driver reporting processes. Ensure precise documentation and recording of drivers' hours, duties, and attendance in the DAS GUI system. Maintain comprehensive records for all aspects of operational standards and performance metrics. Analyze and manage information and systems to ensure ongoing enhancement of service performance. Guarantee that drivers are assigned the appropriate vehicles and depart the depot punctually. Handle telephone inquiries and assist in the effective resolution of customer concerns. Ensure thorough handovers and coordination across shifts. Manage the collection of cash from depots in accordance with company protocols. Input real-time data on lost or additional mileage when faced with unforeseen circumstances (e.g., breakdowns). Ensure depot equipment is logged, maintained, and that adequate stock levels are available, including ticket machines, driver equipment, cash machines, and ticket rolls. Conduct investigations into incidents and prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations. Collaborate with depot operational and engineering teams, fostering strong working relationships to effectively manage all aspects of on-time performance, including vehicle allocation, breakdowns, and changeovers. Maintain a productive working relationship with recognized trade union representatives and officials. Adhere to requisition-to-pay procedures and delegated authorities. Perform other duties relevant to the role as assigned by the line manager.
