London, United Kingdom Single Homeless Project Full time
Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated individual to become part of our tenancy assistance program as a Roma Community Support Specialist.

Your role will involve providing culturally aware and tailored assistance to individuals from the Roma Community who have recently transitioned into their own private rented homes, often for the first time.

Your primary objective will be to offer focused and specialized casework support to help individuals from the Roma Community successfully maintain their independent living situations and prevent a return to homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:
As the Roma Community Support Specialist, you will take the lead in conducting initial evaluations with new clients from the Roma Community.

Your responsibilities will include identifying the various needs of clients related to enhancing their physical and mental health, reducing feelings of isolation, and maximizing their financial stability.

In collaboration with clients and partner organizations, you will develop an initial support and safety plan, pinpointing relevant SHP and community services that can assist clients in achieving their goals and aspirations, and connecting them to these resources.

You will provide practical support to help new clients settle into their private rented accommodations, which includes assistance with paying rent and bills, setting up and managing utilities, and liaising with housing providers. You will also coordinate and collaborate with external specialized Roma Support Services to deliver comprehensive support.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess an understanding, experience, or a willingness to learn about the unique needs of Roma clients and their culture.
Proficiency in Romanian/Romanese or a related language to effectively communicate with Roma clients, or the ability to access suitable resources for this purpose.
A solid understanding of client needs assessment and the resettlement process into new private rented accommodations.
A willingness to learn and experience in supporting clients to enhance and manage their physical and mental health and well-being.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, fostering a collaborative approach to achieving service objectives.

A commitment to delivering a quality, customer-focused service with a proven ability to empower service users.

The capacity to be self-motivated, work under pressure, and manage time efficiently, prioritizing tasks based on necessity.
