Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining comprehensive records of material usage applications, assessments, and approvals within a database system.
- Collaborate with submarine system stakeholders and industry partners to streamline material request submissions.
- Gather material data and input it into external databases for hazard evaluation.
- Facilitate the advancement of material usage applications to secure clearance for operational status.
- Develop risk-based justifications for material safety through consultations with design and safety experts.
- Identify necessary testing for materials, then receive, document, and prepare samples to support those evaluations.
- Assist in resolving issues related to regulatory compliance, toxicity, and fire reaction of materials, initiating actions to support clearance for use.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficient IT skills with the capability to manage data within a database system.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with various stakeholders and ensure clarity of requirements.
- Ability to interpret technical information related to engineering system design and material specifications.
- Willingness to learn and acquire knowledge of material regulations and properties.
- Level 3 qualification in a STEM or safety-related discipline / Eng Tech status.
- Prior experience in conducting safety assessments or contributing to safety cases.

The Materials Assurance Team:
You will collaborate with industry-leading professionals, conducting safety evaluations for material applications in the design of nuclear submarines. The team plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of submarines, engaging in all facets of the design process. This involvement provides opportunities to gain a comprehensive understanding of the programs and assist the business with diverse problem-solving challenges. Training and development resources will be available to support your success in this position, along with the backing of the team.
