Job Title: Senior Materials Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Materials Engineer to join our team at Onyx-Conseil. As a Senior Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for providing authoritative metallurgical advice and guidance to various functions within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of metallurgical advice and guidance to Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams on emergent issues arising during submarine build, commissioning, and in-service.
  • Conduct reviews of supplier technical and special processes related to metallurgy, corrosion prevention, and welding engineering.
  • Conduct and report on metallurgical investigations and research, including the preparation of samples, safe and correct use of laboratory and workshop equipment, conduct of analysis, and the preparation of test results and technical reports.
  • Contribute to the technical evaluation of new materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Support weld engineers in the assessment of pipe welds, structural welds, and cladding, including preparation and mechanical testing of samples.
  • Contribute to the review and maintenance of relevant Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards, Operating Procedures, and Risk Assessments.

Requirements:

  • Qualified to degree level (BEng/BSc) in metallurgy or materials science.
  • Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy.
  • Knowledge of metal forming and processing.
  • Knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and prevention.
  • Experience of working within a team of metallurgists and/or welding engineers.
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of metallurgical related workmanship Standards and Process Instructions.
  • Experience in conducting research and technical investigations.
