Multi-Skilled Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our Maintenance Team at Imerys. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing mechanical and electrical knowledge and skills to maximize plant and equipment availability.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on production equipment and machinery.
  • Conduct fault finding, diagnostic, and installation work to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Calibrate and diagnose faults on instrumentation systems to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Carry out risk assessments and ensure all work areas are clean and free from hazards to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Order site spares and materials to support maintenance activities.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces to access and maintain equipment.

Working Conditions

The site operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Once fully competent, you will be required to join a rota system to provide out-of-hours support.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have a background from within a production/heavy industrial environment with mechanical and electrical experience of fixed processing plant and equipment. Experience of working with/on pumps, welding, mills, burners/furnaces/gas, intrusive chemical work, and centrifuges is essential.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship in mechanical/electrical engineering (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Strong HSE ethos.
  • Proficient in the use of IT.
  • Licenced to drive in the UK.
