About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced librarian to join our team at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. This is a new role within the Strategy, Partnerships and Innovation department, and provides an opportunity for a librarian with a commitment to Open Science and Open Access Publishing to make a significant impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Library Services: You will be working under the Library Manager to revamp and refresh our library and our library services, providing a high-quality information service to users and acting as a general point of contact for library services and inquiries.
Relationship Building: You will build relationships with key stakeholders, developing library services to support researchers and support the delivery of the department's work.
System Management: You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of systems supporting the recording of and reporting on Sanger publications.
Technical Development: You will liaise with the Informatics and Digital Solutions team and external suppliers to support the technical development of the library management system.
Open Access Publishing: You will review our publication workflow and work with the Library Manager to develop library services and processes that support Open Access publishing.
Open Science Commitments: You will work with the Library Manager and Open Science Lead to identify developments in Open Access publishing and continue to develop our library services to ensure we are delivering on our Open Science commitments.
Project Management: You will drive projects forward to bring them to fruition, prioritizing workload and providing advice and support to the department.
Essential Skills:
A librarianship/information management qualification or significant experience in a relevant library/information service.
Experience working in academic libraries and the ability to deliver a high-quality information service.
Experience working with library systems and supporting publication workflows.
Good interpersonal skills.
Proven IT skills.
