About the Role

We are seeking an experienced librarian to join our team at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. As an Assistant Librarian, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our Open Science Roadmap and contributing to the development of our library services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality information services to researchers and support the day-to-day running of the library.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and develop library services to support researchers and the delivery of the department's work.
  • Manage systems supporting the recording and reporting of Sanger publications.
  • Liaise with the Informatics and Digital Solutions team and external suppliers to support the technical development of the library management system.
  • Review and develop library services and processes to support Open Access publishing.
  • Work with the Library Manager and Open Science Lead to identify developments in Open Access publishing and develop library services to meet our Open Science commitments.
  • Drive projects forward to bring them to fruition, prioritizing workload and providing advice and support to the department.
Essential Skills
  • A librarianship/information management qualification or significant experience in a relevant library/information service.
  • Experience working in academic libraries and delivering high-quality information services.
  • Experience working with library systems and supporting publication workflows.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Proven IT skills.
