Job Overview

INNOVATION DRIVES OUR SUCCESS.

At Grant Thornton, our teams are dedicated to empowering businesses and communities to achieve their objectives with integrity and insight.

The Financial Modelling division within our Deals & Business Consulting practice is a dynamic and rapidly expanding group. We provide comprehensive financial modelling solutions to clients across a broad spectrum of Advisory services, including corporate finance transactions, operational transformations, and restructuring initiatives. Our team collaborates with the firm's extensive modelling network, exchanging expertise and best practices with fellow modelling professionals.

We construct, evaluate, and refine models across various sectors and Advisory functions. Financial models are crucial to nearly all business decisions and corporate transactions. We deliver analytical tools that enable our clients to assess the ramifications of their choices prior to implementation. Our primary focus is on creating models that are user-friendly, adaptable, and resilient to change, predominantly utilizing Microsoft Excel with some supplementary programming.

We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements, including reduced hours and job-sharing options, to support your work-life balance.

Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Associate within our team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing financial models and analytical tools for clients to facilitate forecasting and strategic planning, or aiding in their design and enhancement.
  • Modifying and utilizing models to conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses for transactions and restructuring efforts.
  • Evaluating the modelling contributions of junior team members, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to brand standards, while providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Interpreting model outcomes and engaging in meaningful discussions with clients and colleagues regarding their implications.
  • Reviewing financial models created by clients and their advisors, compiling initial assessments and insights.
  • Actively participating in model design discussions and preparing model specification documents.
  • Drafting engagement letters for review by senior team members.
  • Attending client meetings to build rapport and foster enduring relationships based on trust and quality deliverables.
  • Contributing to reports being prepared by other Advisory teams (e.g., VDD, FDD, Corporate Finance, Restructuring).

Candidate Profile

To be considered for the Senior Associate position, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience in a comparable role within a Big 4 or similar modelling team.
  • Currently operating at a manager or equivalent level.
  • Proficient in Excel with a strong grasp of advanced techniques.
  • Solid understanding of modelling best practices.
  • Highly numerate with exceptional communication abilities.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and comprehension of cash flow and working capital cycles.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in a numerate discipline.
  • ACA or CA qualified or equivalent.

While not mandatory, the following skills would be advantageous:

  • A logical approach to problem-solving with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A commitment to personal development alongside a desire to mentor and support colleagues.
  • Experience in infrastructure or fund modelling.
  • A commercially driven mindset with the ability to deliver innovative solutions.

Our Culture

Our core values guide our daily actions and decisions, alongside our commitment to ethical practices. We seek individuals who resonate with our values and are driven by purpose, curiosity, and a candid yet kind approach.

In addition to a competitive salary and benefits package, we offer:

  • Customized development programs and access to coaching.
  • Flexible bank holidays, allowing you to celebrate significant days.
  • Comprehensive benefits including pension, life insurance, private medical coverage, additional holiday purchasing options, and health benefits.
  • Access to shopping discounts, gym memberships, and financial advisory services.

And much more. Explore our benefits section for further details.

Work Environment

We promote a trust-based work culture, driven by responsible individuals who prioritize the interests of our firm and clients. Our flexible working framework allows for adaptability in where, how, and when we work to achieve optimal results for our clients while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Life encompasses more than just work; the activities you engage in and the relationships you cultivate outside of work are essential. Therefore, we are committed to exploring flexible working options for all roles. This is how it should be.

We are in search of individuals who can propel the business forward, contribute innovative ideas, and exceed expectations. People who aspire to do what is right for the firm, our clients, our colleagues, and themselves. This is how it should be.
