Job Overview

Position: DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum

Digital Waffle is seeking a proficient DevOps Engineer to enhance our operational capabilities. This role is crucial for optimizing our cloud infrastructure and refining our deployment strategies.

Essential Skills:

  • Expertise in AWS services
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies and tools (e.g., BitBucket, GitHub, Jenkins)
  • Understanding of PHP and React
  • Proficient in MySQL database management

Key Duties:

  • Architect, implement, and oversee scalable AWS infrastructure components (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS, IAM).
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to establish efficient CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor system performance and security, optimizing resource usage.
  • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure-related challenges, including network and server issues.
  • Work alongside software engineers to enhance application performance and facilitate seamless feature releases.
  • Administer MySQL databases, focusing on schema design, performance optimization, and backup strategies.
  • Implement and manage RESTful APIs for effective system integration.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in DevOps and cloud technology.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a related position.
  • Strong command of AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS, IAM).
  • In-depth knowledge of IaC principles and experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with Symfony framework and RESTful API development.
  • Proficient in MySQL database management and optimization.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and troubleshooting skills in production environments.
  • Strong communication and teamwork capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging solutions (New Relic, AWS CloudWatch).
  • Understanding of security best practices in AWS.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages (PHP, React).
