Job Overview

Position: DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Salary: Up to £60,000 annually

Digital Waffle is seeking a proficient DevOps Engineer to enhance our cloud infrastructure and optimize deployment workflows. This role is vital for improving our operational efficiency and ensuring seamless integration across our systems.

Essential Skills:

  • Expertise in AWS services
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices using tools such as BitBucket, GitHub, or Jenkins
  • Knowledge of PHP and frameworks like Symfony
  • Proficient in MySQL database management

Key Duties:

  • Architect and maintain robust and secure AWS infrastructure, including EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS, and IAM.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions utilizing Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to establish efficient CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor system performance and implement optimizations for security and resource management.
  • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure-related challenges, including connectivity and performance issues.
  • Work alongside software engineers to enhance application performance and facilitate smooth feature rollouts.
  • Administer MySQL databases, focusing on schema design, performance optimization, and data backups.
  • Implement and sustain RESTful APIs for effective system integration.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in DevOps, cloud technologies, and automation practices.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in a DevOps Engineer role or similar.
  • Strong command of AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS, IAM).
  • Solid grasp of IaC principles and practical experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with Symfony and RESTful API development.
  • Proficient in MySQL database management and optimization.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Bitbucket or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and capacity to troubleshoot complex production issues.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging solutions (New Relic, AWS CloudWatch).
  • Understanding of security best practices in AWS environments.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps principles.
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages (PHP, React).
