Position: DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Compensation: Up to £60,000 annually

Digital Waffle is seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to enhance our operational capabilities. This role is crucial for optimizing our infrastructure and refining our deployment strategies.

Essential Skills:

  • Expertise in AWS services
  • Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Proficient in CI/CD tools (BitBucket, GitHub, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Familiarity with PHP and React
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain scalable and secure AWS infrastructure components (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS, IAM).
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Collaborate with development teams to create efficient CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor system performance and optimize security and resource usage.
  • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
  • Work alongside software engineers to enhance application performance.
  • Administer MySQL databases, focusing on schema design and performance tuning.
  • Implement RESTful APIs for effective system integration.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in DevOps and cloud technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services.
  • Understanding of IaC and experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with Symfony framework and RESTful API development.
  • Proficient in MySQL database management.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Bitbucket or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (New Relic, AWS CloudWatch).
  • Understanding of security practices in AWS.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages (PHP, React).
