Job Overview

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is seeking a dedicated individual to join the Directorate of Judicial Engagement Policy (DJEP) within the claims team. This team plays a crucial role in enhancing the MOD's capacity to navigate the intricate legal landscape associated with military operations, both historical and current.

As the volume of complex legal claims continues to rise, the DJEP is tasked with managing a significant number of claims, including those stemming from military conflicts and historical operations. The MOD has seen a substantial influx of claims, necessitating a robust response and management strategy.

This position entails a hybrid working model, with a requirement for a minimum of 60% office attendance, fostering collaboration and stakeholder engagement while promoting a balanced work-life dynamic.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide essential support to the DJEP Common Law Claims and Policy Team (CLCP). Key responsibilities include:

  • Efficiently processing and allocating claims received through various channels.
  • Managing the claims administration function, ensuring timely and accurate handling of sensitive cases.
  • Overseeing the annual revision of Defence Instruction Notices (DINs) and validating compensation payments.
  • Coordinating Periodic Payment Orders in collaboration with the MOD’s forensic accountancy partner.
  • Organizing stakeholder engagement meetings and supporting policy team initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a range of administrative functions while developing a deeper understanding of legal processes.
