About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Coventry Building Society. As a key member of our Legal Function, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice on a range of matters across the Society, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and supporting the business in managing risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice on product-related legal requirements, property-related legal requirements, and non-standard litigation/disputes.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams in the Legal Function and wider Society to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including colleagues, external counsel, and other external partners.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in law and regulation, and provide guidance on how these changes impact the Society.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
About You

We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced legal professional with a strong background in product law, risk management, and compliance. You will have excellent communication and advisory skills, with the ability to build successful working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. You will also have strong drafting, research, negotiation, analytical, and influencing skills.

Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified lawyer, with a strong background in product law, risk management, and compliance.
