About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Coventry Building Society. As a key member of our Legal Function, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice on a range of matters across the Society, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and supporting the business in managing risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice on product-related matters, including mortgage and savings products, lending and savings activities, and property portfolio management.
  • Assist in managing risk, whether legal, reputational, or compliance-related, and support the Society's goal and vision on performance and purpose.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams in the Legal Function and wider Society to ensure effective communication and stakeholder management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external counsel and other stakeholders to ensure the Society remains compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Minimum of [num_years] years of experience as a legally qualified professional, with strong knowledge of product-related legal requirements, property-related legal requirements, and standard litigation/disputes.
  • Broad multi-disciplinary experience and experience working in a complex and busy workplace.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent drafting, research, negotiation, analytical, and influencing skills.
