About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Coventry Building Society. As a key member of our Legal Function, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice on a range of matters across the Society, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and supporting the business in managing risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice on product-related legal requirements, property-related legal requirements, and non-standard litigation/disputes.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams in the Legal Function and wider Society to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including colleagues, external counsel, and other external partners.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in law and regulation, and provide guidance on how these changes may impact the Society.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified lawyer, with a strong background in product-related legal requirements, property-related legal requirements, and non-standard litigation/disputes.
  • Proven track record of providing expert legal advice and guidance to stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
