About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Glaucoma Practitioner to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our ophthalmology department, you will play a vital role in providing expert care to patients with glaucoma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients with glaucoma.
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication and surgical interventions.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Professional registration with the relevant governing body (GOC, NMC, HCPC).
  • Post-registration CPD and relevant qualifications, such as Glaucoma Level 1.
  • Significant experience working at Band 6 level or equivalent in ophthalmology or a related field.
  • Expert knowledge of glaucoma diagnosis, treatment, and management.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
