Job Overview

Patient Pathway Administrative Support Specialist (Radiology)

This role involves providing assistance to the Service Manager, Patient Pathway Manager, and Patient Pathway Coordinators by executing assigned tasks related to various operational functions. The position requires independent decision-making based on specialized knowledge and experience within the service.

Participation in meetings, forums, and working groups alongside the Service Manager or Patient Pathway Coordinator is essential to the role.

The aim is to maintain high levels of satisfaction among patients and clinicians by serving as an approachable, customer-oriented, and knowledgeable contact point.

Effective guidance and support will be provided to the Appointments and Reception teams.

The role will focus on specific modality appointment scheduling while ensuring a comprehensive understanding of all booking processes.

Adherence to scheduling protocols, guidelines, and clinical targets is crucial, along with the ability to identify and address breach situations and the implications of timetable changes on capacity.

The position supports a coordinated and thorough administrative service for patients requiring admission, in line with Radiology protocols and procedures.

A key responsibility includes becoming a proficient user of the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Electronic Patient Record (EPR).

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with Clinical Leads and Patient Pathway Teams to ensure adequate scheduling capacity to meet anticipated demand. Identify patients on cancer pathways and coordinate with Cancer Services MDT Coordinators to ensure sensitive and appropriate scheduling. Serve as a Super User for the Radiology Information System (RIS) and demonstrate proficiency in other hospital systems, including Electronic Patient Record (EPR), ICE, Choose and Book, and general software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
