Cardiff, Cardiff, United Kingdom Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Full time

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Occupational Therapy Team Lead in the Medicine Department at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will lead a team of occupational therapists and technicians in delivering value-based, occupationally focused interventions across the hospital. Your expertise will support rehabilitation and discharge planning, ensuring patients receive the best possible care.

The occupational therapy service is embedded in the Cardiff and Vale Occupational Therapy Strategy and Operational Plan, which prioritizes the Rehabilitation Model. This model focuses on three key areas: 'doing only what we can do', 'right care, right time, right place', and 'building a skilled and enabled workforce'.

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide assessment and ongoing therapy to patients, following the D2RA and 'Home First' principles. Your intervention plans will be centered around the 'What Matters' conversation, ensuring patient-centered care.

As a Team Lead, you will join a supportive and established occupational therapy team within the health board. The service has an active training program in place, offering opportunities for service development, training, and CPD.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced occupational therapist who is committed to delivering high-quality care in the medicine setting. The successful candidate will have a strong background in team leadership, people management, and service development.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead service development in occupational therapy
  • Deliver occupational therapy interventions in an inpatient setting
  • Manage a complex caseload and demonstrate expertise in complex discharge
  • Implement D2RA, Home First, and the Cardiff and Vale Occupational Therapy Strategy and Operational Plan
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with multidisciplinary teams
