Position Overview
We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Band 5 Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialist to become a vital member of our Occupational Therapy team within the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, specifically focusing on the Children and Young People Service (CYP).
This role is ideal for an individual who is enthusiastic about working with children and adolescents. You will collaborate with a well-established Occupational Therapy team that is devoted to enhancing the occupational performance of children and their families.
Our service is characterized by innovation, and you will have the chance to lead and facilitate workshops aimed at helping children and young people adapt their activities and implement strategies for achieving greater independence.
Proficiency in Welsh is preferred for this position; however, applications from both Welsh and English speakers are encouraged.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments, develop plans, implement, and evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions independently in both secondary care and community environments, including working alone in children's homes and educational settings.
- Manage a designated caseload, applying evidence-based and client-centered approaches within community child health.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and engage with voluntary organizations, local authorities, and other relevant health and social care sectors to coordinate care across primary and secondary care.
- Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with legal standards and professional guidelines.
- Participate in the orientation, supervision, and training of support staff and students within the workplace.

Job Duties
- Engage with the multi-disciplinary therapies team to provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions, as guided by the senior occupational therapist.
- Offer occupational therapy insights to other disciplines to enhance care episodes and co-production within the patient journey. Participate in evidence-based practice development through audit and research activities as directed by the lead occupational therapist.
- Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is committed to fostering professional growth and will provide learning opportunities aligned with the Pillars of Learning. Supervision will be offered by a Band 6 therapist with support from the Band 7 team lead.
- Opportunities for involvement in service enhancement and ongoing professional development are actively promoted.
- A commitment to collaborative practice with the Multi-Disciplinary Team is essential. We also support the education of Occupational Therapy students within our service.

- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Professional registration as recognized by HCPC.
