Mental Health Nurse Specialist

About the Role:

The position of Mental Health Nurse Specialist involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients with complex mental health needs in a dynamic and supportive environment. The main responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing individualized care plans to enhance patient outcomes
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care
  • Providing education and support to patients and their families
  • Maintaining and advancing clinical competence through ongoing education and training
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
The Mental Health Nurse Specialist will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care, focusing on wellness strategies, such as nutrition, exercise, and therapy, to support patients in achieving their goals. We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable mental health-trained nurse who thrives in a team-oriented environment and is dedicated to continuous learning. Experience in Mental Health or Substance Use is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessing patient needs and developing individualized care plans
  • Providing direct patient care, including medication management and wound care
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
  • Participating in patient and family education
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives
Requirements:
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia
  • Experience in Mental Health or Substance Use
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Commitment to ongoing education and professional development
