Mental Health Nurse

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse provides high-quality patient care in an inpatient psychiatric setting, working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care to psychiatric patients, both independently and as part of a team
• Enhance patient and family well-being through consultation, collaboration, and education with other healthcare providers
• Demonstrate continuous improvement and evidence-based practice in nursing care
• Maintain and advance clinical competence
• Participate in designated hospital committees and approved research projects as assigned
Work Environment:
The Inpatient Mental Health and Substance Use program is an interdisciplinary team that prioritizes patient wellness through education on nutrition, exercise, medications, therapy, relapse prevention, and other wellness strategies. We work closely with Community Mental Health and Substance Use programs to facilitate a smooth transition back to the community.
Requirements:
We are seeking a self-directed, motivated, and reliable mental health-trained nurse (RN/RPN) who thrives in a team environment and is eager to learn. If you have experience in Mental Health or Substance Use, we encourage you to apply.
Shifts and Schedule:
Shifts are available in days and nights, with varying start and end times. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings, including permanent and temporary positions.
Compensation:
Effective April 1, 2024, the hourly wage will be $41.42 to $55.91 per hour.
About this Location/Unit:
The East Kootenay Regional Hospital Psychiatric department is a 10-bed inpatient unit with 2 seclusion rooms. We have recently renovated our department to prioritize staff and patient safety. Our team includes a team leader, 2 RNs working 12-hour shifts 24/7, a unit clerk, and 4 Psychiatrists. We provide group activities and implement the PIECES philosophy.
