Position Overview

This position is pivotal in advancing the field of fusion energy. As a Senior Electrical Technician at the UK Atomic Energy Authority, you will be instrumental in the wiring, testing, and commissioning of advanced equipment for robotics and remote handling systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Electrical Workshop Manager to prioritize workshop tasks and address any potential issues that may hinder target achievement.
  • Engage in RACE projects that focus on the research and development of innovative equipment, while identifying possible operational challenges.
  • Support the RACE Remote Handling Electrical Plant Manager in the operation of remote handling equipment.
  • Serve as the Responsible Officer for RACE equipment or systems, ensuring that maintenance is conducted as per specifications and taking charge of designated workshop areas.
  • Oversee the workshop environment and manage technician activities effectively.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A relevant engineering degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent apprenticeship with substantial industrial experience.
  • Certification in the current BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
  • Proficient in interpreting and working from technical drawings and schematics.
  • Extensive knowledge of crimping and soldering methods.
  • Proven experience in diagnosing faults within electrical systems and devices.
  • Demonstrated capability in supervising workshop operations and managing technician teams.
