Lead Electrical Technician

This role can be based at any of the following sites; Culham, Oxfordshire.
This position necessitates candidates to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
Role Summary
Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in advancing fusion energy? As a Senior Electrical Technician at RACE, you will be instrumental in the wiring, testing, and commissioning of robotics and remote handling systems. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing a team of technicians engaged in the assembly and testing of equipment, along with diagnosing and repairing electrical systems related to remote handling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the Electrical Workshop Manager to prioritize workshop tasks and address any issues that may hinder target achievement.
- Engaging in RACE projects focused on the research and development of innovative equipment, while identifying potential operational challenges.
- Supporting the RACE Remote Handling Electrical Plant Manager in the operational maintenance of remote handling equipment.
- Acting as the Responsible Officer for RACE equipment or systems, ensuring that maintenance protocols are adhered to and managing designated areas of the workshop.
- Assuming responsibility for specific areas of the workshop as needed.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- A relevant engineering degree, HND, HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent with substantial industrial experience.
- Certification in the current BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
- Proficiency in interpreting and working from technical drawings and schematics.
- Extensive knowledge of crimping and soldering methods.
- Expertise in troubleshooting electrical systems and devices.
- Experience in supervising a workshop and managing a team of technicians.
