Job Title: Hospital Director

At Priory, we are committed to providing high-quality care and services to our patients. We are seeking an experienced and skilled Hospital Director to lead our team and ensure the delivery of exceptional care.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Hospital Senior Management Team and indirect leadership for the full hospital team.
  • Accountable for the financial and operational performance of the hospital, including cost control and budget management.
  • Responsible for ensuring the delivery of day-to-day services in line with legal requirements and regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain strategic external relationships with support from the business development team.
  • Establish and direct a recruitment and retention plan designed to meet future staffing needs and to drive down staff turnover, and agency spend.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that there is a robust succession plan in place for Hospital SMT.
  • Work closely with all regional support functions including Quality, Finance, Business Development and HR.
  • Ensure adherence to Priory Group Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage and respond to all complaints relating to residents in a timely manner.
  • Undertake the responsibility of managing and monitoring all aspects of confidentiality and security arrangements in respect of service user records.
Requirements:
  • Educated to degree level or with a relevant health or social care professional registration. Postgraduate qualification desirable.
  • Passionate about providing high-quality care.
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise and multi-task.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity within the organisation but continue to lead the team.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills essential.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Can work well under pressure.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement with a demonstrated record of accomplishment in organisation change.
  • The ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously in a highly dynamic environment.
Experience:
  • Experience in a hospital environment, preferably in a Mental Health Service, is essential.
  • Seasoned leader, with operational and financial planning experience.
  • Experience of commercial accountability for cost control and financial performance.
  • Experience of making informed decisions sometimes in difficult circumstances.
  • Experience of leading a diverse team.
  • Extensive managerial & leadership experience with a thorough understanding of developing services for healthcare.
  • Strong record of accomplishment of innovation and making changes to the operation to further improve the work environment and site performance.
Communication:

Excellent verbal and non-verbal communications including awareness of impact of communication on desired audience. Can flex communication style dependant on situation and message.
