Portsmouth, Portsmouth, United Kingdom Teaching Personnel Full time

Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant Required:

We collaborate with numerous mainstream primary educational institutions across the Greater Portsmouth region, which are actively seeking experienced professionals in Special Educational Needs (SEN) for focused 1:1, small group, or individual/class support roles.

We are particularly interested in candidates who possess experience, whether through professional roles, volunteer work, or personal interactions with individuals facing challenges such as Autism, ADHD, behavioral difficulties, emotional, social & mental health issues, physical disabilities, or those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Availability: Our partner schools are looking for both full-time and part-time candidates, with roles commencing in September. In some instances, start dates may be flexible for the right candidate.

Fast-Track Opportunities:

We can expedite the hiring process if you meet the following criteria:

  • You hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
  • You are available to start within a two-week timeframe.
  • You have substantial experience working with children or individuals with Special Educational Needs.

We can facilitate a visit or arrange a meeting with a school representative to ensure you have all the necessary information to make an informed decision.

Not exclusively seeking primary school roles? We also support placements from nursery through to sixth form, so please inform us of your preferences.

For Regular Candidates:

Those requiring a new DBS must be prepared to apply for one and register it with the Update Service. Additionally, you should have:

  • Two forms of identification readily available.
  • Two proofs of address easily accessible.
  • Two references and referees prepared to provide them promptly.

We seek individuals with a positive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting and nurturing primary-aged students.

Referral Incentive: If you know someone who would be an ideal fit for this position, we offer a £50 referral fee for current staff who refer candidates that successfully complete the vetting process and begin their role.

Benefits:

  • Make a significant impact on the lives of students who require the most support.
  • Receive competitive weekly compensation.
  • Benefit from a dedicated consultant to assist you throughout the application process and during your employment.
  • Access to all of Teaching Personnel's resources, spanning from nursery to further education.
  • Opportunities for long-term or temporary full-time or part-time positions based on your preferences and the needs of the school.
  • Work in well-resourced educational environments with a supportive, family-like atmosphere among staff.

All applicants must possess the necessary qualifications and training for this role. For further details, please refer to the FAQ section on the Teaching Personnel website. All pay rates mentioned include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role in the future.

Teaching Personnel is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We conduct thorough safeguarding checks on all workers in line with DfE statutory guidance. This may include an online search as part of our due diligence for shortlisted candidates.

We provide all registered candidates with complimentary child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must have or be willing to undergo a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, with full assistance provided.
