About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Business Development Manager for Optronics Research and Technology. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative team, driving the development of cutting-edge electro-optic systems for defence and security applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement business strategies to drive growth and innovation in the optronics research and technology domain.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships and collaborations.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise to support the development of electro-optic systems, including sensor systems, imaging systems, and optical design.
  • Work closely with customers and stakeholders to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technological advancements and trends in the defence and security industry, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and growth.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in optronics research, development, and innovation.
  • Master's degree in Physics, Electronics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in the specification, design, and development of electro-optic sensors, ideally with machine learning and/or artificial intelligence.
  • Prior relevant domain knowledge and a willingness to adapt and learn about a wider variety of technologies.
  • Experience of working with the UK defence and security industries and UK MoD.
  • Good listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to compile quality presentation material and present clearly to customers and at conferences.
Desirable
  • PhD in a subject related to electro-optics, physics, computer sciences, artificial intelligence, vision, robotics, simulation, opto-electronics, data analysis, engineering, or synthetic data generation.
  • Prior experience in technical business development/sales.
  • Prior experience working with UK Government (e.g. Dstl and/or MoD) and universities.
