Job Summary

The Assistant Director of the Child Development Center is a key member of the Southeast Community College team, responsible for assisting the CDC Director in the day-to-day supervision and management of the CDC. This is a full-time regular position that requires a strong background in early childhood education and experience in supervising and leading a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the CDC to ensure high-quality early childhood education and care is provided to all children.
  • Communicate, supervise, and work directly with children, families, group supervisors, assistants, and aides, SCC students, program instructors, outside college staff, and community representatives.
  • Assist in implementing a health and safety program for the Child Development Center.
  • Supervise and coordinate planning, implementation, and evaluation of children's age-appropriate educational programs, routines, activities, and techniques of child guidance.
  • Facilitate, coordinate, supervise, evaluate, and serve as a role model for students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Program laboratory courses.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to students and Early Childhood Education Program instructors.
  • Attend, as assigned, Early Childhood Education Program classes to answer students' questions about Center positions and expectations.
  • Communicate with and orientate parents of newly enrolled children on Child Development Center policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, Human Development, or Early Childhood Education.
  • One (1) year of experience working with children in a group care setting.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in weight frequently and on a daily basis.
  • Ability to endure moderate physical activity during the 8 hours assigned to work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing, in person, and on the phone.
  • Ability to use basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, Human Development, or Early Childhood Education.
Work Environment

This is a full-time regular position that requires working varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.
