In this role, you will be responsible for planning, overseeing, and executing projects in a safe and sustainable manner, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

You will hold full accountability for the successful execution of projects, which includes aspects such as planning, design, implementation, monitoring, commissioning, and project closure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular project reviews and maintain the Digital Briefcase.
  • Ensure the team keeps precise project documentation (progress reports, daily logs, etc.).
  • Prepare and deliver both internal and external reports while liaising with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to comprehend technical explanations and solutions.
  • Manage teams to guarantee project deliverables are met.
  • Critically assess designs and challenge inputs and outputs.
  • Ensure reports provide essential information for informed decision-making that aligns with business strategies.
  • Maintain a strong focus on Zero Harm and stay updated with legislative changes.
  • Be accountable for the safety and well-being of the public, employees, and supply chain.

  • Review and accept RAMS from subcontractors.
  • Develop and maintain a live Health & Safety plan.
  • Empower teams to assign work effectively.
  • Mentor and upskill team members.
  • Coordinate and oversee all project activities and internal functions.
  • Identify and manage resources to deliver project outcomes.
  • Create, implement, and revise resource allocation plans as needed.
  • Develop actionable plans for the team to achieve their goals.
  • Cultivate high-performing teams, promote talent development, and support internal training through guidance and motivation.
  • Lead risk and opportunity assessments, manage the Risk Register, and recommend necessary changes.
  • Document and escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate authority.
  • Oversee subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Ensure procurement strategies align with overall project timelines for timely delivery of materials and resources.
  • Guarantee that all work is conducted with a focus on handover and certification.

  • Ensure that assurance activities (audits) are conducted and address findings appropriately.

Essential Qualities/Experience:

  • Proven experience across various project types.
  • Demonstrated history of successful project delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with standard contract forms.
  • Strong communication skills in commercial and project management contexts.
  • Experience in implementing safe work systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all organizational levels.
  • Capable of conveying new concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Effective team management skills that empower and inspire others.
  • Good understanding of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.
  • Track record of a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.

  • Membership in a professional management organization, such as APM.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal project management qualification or equivalent experience.
  • CSCS and SMSTS or equivalent certifications.
