Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Professional to join our SHEQ team at Brogan Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of health, safety, environment, and quality (SHEQ) policies and procedures across the business.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of project-specific risk assessments, method statements, rescue plans, and lifting plans to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
  • Competent inspection of personal protective equipment (PPE), fire protective equipment (FPE), and respiratory protective equipment (RPE) to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Engagement with workers to promote a positive health and safety culture and encourage reporting of incidents and near misses.
  • Providing SHEQ compliance, advice, and guidance on applicable legislation and industry best practices to ensure the business remains compliant and up-to-date.
  • Carrying out inductions, training, and toolbox talks to ensure workers are aware of their responsibilities and the procedures in place to ensure their safety.
  • Monitoring, internal auditing, and reporting on SHEQ performance for yard, logistics, and project operations to identify areas for improvement.
  • Promoting good practice relating to health, safety, environment, and quality management to ensure the business remains a leader in its field.
  • Supporting supply chain activities and raising SHEQ standards to ensure the business remains compliant and competitive.
  • Assisting in the investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents, and non-conformances, and making recommendations for corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Undertaking statutory inspections, internal audits, site SHEQ inspections, and PAT testing to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
  • Ensuring the effective implementation of policies and procedures across the business to ensure a positive health and safety culture.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working within the construction industry, particularly in roles involving working at height, scaffolding, construction hoists, mast climber work platforms, and plant.
  • Degree in Health & Safety accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or one of the following qualifications: NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, Professional Membership IOSH/IEMA/CQI.
  • Computer literate, with essential skills including report writing, email, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Problem-solving leadership and effective communication skills.
  • Experience of supporting a business contract and/or providing support to a professional function.
  • Likely to have 2 years' business experience.
