Collections and Database Officer

We are seeking a permanent Trusts and Foundations Officer to join our busy and friendly development team at the British Library.
In this role, you will help grow and maximise income from trusts, foundations, and statutory sources as part of the Library's transformational ambitions over the next decade.
You will be responsible for fundraising for a range of projects, including conservation, major exhibitions, learning programmes, and digitisation projects.
You will have your own portfolio of trusts at the 4-5 figure level and work closely with the Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager, the Head of Trusts and Foundations, the Development Director, and colleagues across the organisation to devise compelling fundraising proposals and secure funding.
You will support the Trusts team's stewardship plans by managing records on our database and invitation lists, and helping organise and assist with visits and events.
You will be a confident individual with demonstrable experience of trusts fundraising, including excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills and the confidence to deal with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
A collaborative, determined, open, and honest approach to align with the Library's values and purposes will be vital, as well as an interest in and appreciation of the activities of the British Library.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure income from trusts, foundations, and statutory sources.
- Manage a portfolio of trusts at the 4-5 figure level and work closely with senior colleagues to devise compelling fundraising proposals and secure funding.
- Support the Trusts team's stewardship plans by managing records on our database and invitation lists, and helping organise and assist with visits and events.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior foundation staff and trustees.
- Contribute to the development of the Library's fundraising strategy and plans.
