Main Responsibilities

Your role will involve providing specialized support and guidance to patients, acting as their primary contact throughout their care journey. You will coordinate and tailor the patient experience to deliver a compassionate nursing service for individuals and their families undergoing treatment.

Key Duties Include:

  1. Delivering expert advice and support to patients, their families, and healthcare professionals regarding cancer care.
  2. Developing and maintaining advanced clinical competencies in patient assessment and treatment options.
  3. Collaborating with other clinical specialists and healthcare providers to ensure seamless communication and care continuity.
  4. Maintaining accurate patient records in accordance with clinical governance and risk management protocols.
  5. Managing a personal caseload of patients independently.
  6. Utilizing advanced communication skills to discuss care and treatment plans with patients and the multidisciplinary team.
  7. Providing emotional support during challenging situations.
  8. Involving patients and their families in care planning and service development.
  9. Conducting nurse-led clinics and performing specialized clinical procedures.
  10. Applying evidence-based research to clinical practice.
  11. Adhering to professional conduct standards at all times.
  12. Actively participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Leadership Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  1. Provide expert clinical knowledge to colleagues and patients.
  2. Contribute to the strategic development of specialized services.
  3. Supervise healthcare professionals individually or in groups.
  4. Support senior colleagues in various initiatives.
  5. Promote effective nursing leadership within the care group.
  6. Collaborate with management to identify areas for practice improvement.
  7. Ensure the efficient use of resources.
  8. Monitor health and safety standards in the clinical environment.
  9. Participate in policy development at local and network levels.

Education and Professional Development

You will be responsible for:

  1. Identifying educational needs and implementing training programs.
  2. Staying updated on current practices in urology oncology services.
  3. Publishing and presenting clinical findings and service developments.
  4. Participating in the education of healthcare professionals.
  5. Ensuring compliance with mandatory training and professional development requirements.
  6. Receiving clinical supervision for ongoing professional growth.
  7. Maintaining awareness of professional issues and trends.
  8. Engaging in performance appraisal processes.

Research and Audit

Your contributions will include:

  1. Identifying and conducting research and clinical audits to enhance patient care.
  2. Sharing research findings through presentations and publications.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN)
  • Degree in Nursing or a related health field
  • Post-registration qualification in a specialized area
  • Teaching and assessing qualification
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

Desirable:

  • Counseling certification
  • Master's level education
  • Advanced communication skills training
