About the Role

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Graduate Research Computing Service Support to join our team. As a Graduate Research Computing Service Support, you will play a key role in providing support to scientific users of the JASMIN high-performance data analysis facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to users of the JASMIN facility, including troubleshooting and resolving issues related to compute, storage, and cloud services.
  • Design, review, and edit technical documentation and training materials to ensure that users have the necessary information to effectively use the JASMIN facility.
  • Develop and deliver training courses and user conferences to educate users on the effective use of the JASMIN facility.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of software components of the services that we operate, applying robust and up-to-date software engineering practices.
  • Participate in team activities across the CEDA Division, playing an active part in an outward-focussed, innovative and friendly team which has a highly-valued reputation with its user community.

Requirements

  • Achieved, or be on course to achieve, a minimum 2:1 degree, in a relevant field of study.
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK at time of starting employment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and interest in, the work of the JASMIN team, and a desire to make a positive contribution.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Able to manage your time effectively between multiple tasks.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a small team.
  • Effective communication skills.
