About the Role

The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Graduate Research Software Engineer to join our team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). As a Graduate Research Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and maintenance of our energy research data centre, working closely with our team of experts to design, implement, and deploy software solutions that support our research goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications using Django and other relevant technologies
  • Work with our team to identify and prioritize software development projects, ensuring that they align with our research goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with our data scientists and researchers to develop and implement data management and preservation solutions
  • Ensure that our software applications are accessible, user-friendly, and meet the needs of our users
  • Contribute to the development of our technical documentation and knowledge base

Requirements

  • A minimum of a 2:1 degree in a relevant field of study, such as computer science, software engineering, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills, with experience in languages such as Python, Java, or C++
  • Experience with software development methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Interest or experience in energy research and sustainability
