Position Overview

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the coordination and management of young patients receiving treatment from the plastic surgery and burns teams at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

The plastic surgery and burns division is a highly specialized surgical unit within the Trust, serving as a tertiary referral center for a broad population across multiple counties.

Applicants must possess a minimum of two years' experience in a pediatric environment, with a background in caring for patients with injuries related to plastic surgery and burns.

Exceptional communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with patients and a diverse multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee pediatric burns and plastics trauma clinics throughout the week as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in the Burns MDT sessions.
  • Evaluate pediatric patients referred through the designated system and prioritize their treatment based on urgency.
  • Ensure all safeguarding referrals are appropriately submitted by the medical team or referring institutions.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of pediatric burns and plastics trauma patients for surgical procedures.
  • Contribute to the organization of weekend clinics for pediatric burns and plastics trauma.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Nursing degree or equivalent qualification.
  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
  • Registered Pediatric Nurse at degree level or equivalent.
  • Registered adult nurse with pediatric competencies.

Desirable

  • Further education in burns or plastic surgery.
