Cooling Systems Service Engineer

Location - London and South East of England

Note: A valid UK driving license is essential for this position due to frequent travel and client interactions.

As a leading manufacturer and global provider of cooling solutions, this role involves working within critical cooling environments for major organizations, ensuring effective communication and complete accountability for assigned tasks.

Your responsibilities will encompass the commissioning and initiation of newly installed equipment, along with maintenance, servicing, and repair operations on a diverse range of cooling systems.

These systems may include chilled water solutions, direct expansion units, economizer technologies, in-row and containment systems, perimeter cooling, and installations of chillers ranging from small to large capacities (MW). You will also utilize various software programs and applications to perform a range of on-site tasks as required.

Managing on-site activities and overseeing installation contractors to ensure adherence to best practices will be part of your duties.

Comprehensive product training will be provided at our cooling academy, and you will have access to internal software and applications. You are expected to utilize technical documentation, including schematic diagrams, service manuals, and installation guidelines, to execute tasks to a high standard while following established processes and collaborating within a team environment, including emergency call-outs.

Strong customer-facing skills are crucial, alongside adherence to company policies and responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • FGas certification and a minimum Level 2 City & Guilds qualification in refrigeration and air-conditioning.
  • Experience in data centers is preferred.
  • Chiller experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using laptops, software programs, and specific equipment applications.
  • Experience in commissioning, start-up, servicing, and maintenance tasks, including field service repairs and breakdown support (training provided).
  • Willingness to travel across the UK as necessary.
  • Participation in an on-call rota (1 in 5).
  • Ability to manage on-site activities and supervise installation contractors.
  • Flexibility to travel across the UK and Ireland, with potential overnight stays depending on site location and tasks.
  • Collaboration with main departments such as Service Coordination, Technical Support, Project Management, and Account Teams.
  • Training academy located outside the UK, requiring international travel.
  • Timely completion of administrative tasks such as site reports, expenses, and timesheets.
  • Valid UK driving license.
