Who will you collaborate with?

As a Quality Assurance Specialist at Wabtec Corporation, you will be part of the Quality team, adopting a proactive stance in addressing quality challenges.

Position: Quality Assurance Specialist

Compensation: £Competitive

Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday 07:00am to 16:00pm and Friday 07:00am to 12:30pm, totaling 37 hours per week

Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract for 6 months - Full-Time

How will you contribute?

Your role will involve ensuring that Goods in Inspection, Supplier First Article Inspection (FAI), and Customer FAI's are executed efficiently, with thorough documentation maintained.

What does a typical day entail?

  • Measure engineering components against technical drawings and specifications.
  • Examine supplier documentation to verify compliance with specifications and prepare Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR)/FAI packs.
  • Initiate Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR) through our internal Incident Management system.
  • Authorize product release to production using the MRP system.
  • Isolate non-conforming products for further evaluation.
  • Manage claims via the MRP system and coordinate the return of non-conforming items to suppliers in collaboration with purchasing.
  • Conduct stock checks as necessary as part of containment measures.
  • Perform random inspections of outgoing products and report findings to the Quality team.
  • Engage with Customers/Suppliers regarding quality concerns or rejected items.
  • Uphold and enhance 5S standards in the Quality Quarantine and Inspection areas.

What qualifications are we looking for?

  • HND or an equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Capability to interpret and understand engineering drawings.
  • Skilled in utilizing various testing and precision measuring tools, along with manual hand tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and Vernier calipers.
  • Proficient in IT and familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Excel & Word).
