Electrical Design Technical Lead

Join Thomas Thor in shaping the future of nuclear power technology as an Electrical Design Technical Lead. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing safe and secure electrical systems for our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership for the engineering assessment, design, and safety justification of the SMR-300 for deployment in the UK and worldwide.
  • Deliver technical scope of high integrity/complex electrical systems within the Electrical discipline.
  • Take ownership of the electrical engineering chapter of the Safety Case for submission to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) for use in the Generic Design Assessment (GDA).
  • Build strong relationships with the US SMR electrical team.

Requirements:

  • Experience in nuclear power station electrical system design, specifically on-site distribution (AC and DC), off-site interfaces (substation), grounding and lighting protection, plant lighting systems, battery system, diesel generators.
  • Developing nuclear safety functional requirements for electrical systems.
  • Experience with applicable (including nuclear-specific) IEEE, IEC, EPRI, ISA, and ANSI codes and standards.
  • Evidence of providing technical leadership for complex electrical design engineering projects.
