Role Overview:

The Airfield Lighting Systems Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of airport operations. You will be responsible for the routine upkeep, calibration, and installation of all Airfield Ground Lighting systems, including High Mast Lighting, generators, and control mechanisms, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Document and maintain records of all maintenance, calibration, and installations as mandated by the relevant Codes of Practice.
  • Perform routine maintenance and installation of additional Aeronautical Ground Lighting equipment as directed.
  • Take on other responsibilities of a similar nature as required, in line with your training and expertise.
  • Participate in training sessions as directed to enhance your skills for maintaining Aeronautical Ground Lighting to the required standards.
  • Execute planned maintenance schedules efficiently.
  • Support the effective operation of the Airfield Engineering stores.
  • Assist in the training of junior engineers or apprentices as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with current Electrical Regulations and the company's Quality Management procedures.

Candidate Profile:

This role requires on-site presence, so candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance. Ideal candidates will have a background as an electrical engineer or contractor, having completed a recognized apprenticeship, such as NVQ3 in Electrical Installation. Experience in fault finding and holding an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification is essential.

We value a methodical approach to problem-solving, critical thinking skills, and the ability to take initiative. Strong verbal communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with contractors, Air Traffic Control, colleagues, and management. Proficiency in written communication is also vital for producing precise technical documentation and professional reports.
